The Outcome of the First Annual High Country Buddy Walk

Spooky Duke Race 2017

Tuesday, August 27, 2013 - 1:20pm

The primary goal of the Buddy Walk is to promote the awareness and acceptance of people with Down syndrome.  Families and friends whose lives have been touched by Down syndrome joined members of our communities in helping to raise awareness concerning the abilities people with Down syndrome possess.

Thank you to you all who participated in the First Annual High Country Buddy Walk which was held on Saturday September 21.  There were nearly 500 volunteers, participants, teams, etc...that came to support this event!!!  In total, Lynn Robinson said Saturday’s walk raised close to $15,000 in funding for local families caring for a loved one with Down Syndrome.  Patricia Calloway said most of the proceeds will directly benefit area children with Down Syndrome and their families. Seven percent will fund the NDSS’s national advocacy efforts.

This walk was a huge success!!! Make sure to tune in with us for next year's walk!
